Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid tribute to former President Pranab Mukherjee on his birth anniversary, calling him a towering statesman and scholar whose decades-long public service, intellect and policy leadership left a lasting imprint on India’s democracy.
At a Deeksha Diwas event in Siddipet, former Minister T Harish Rao quoted Pranab Mukherjee’s books to praise K Chandrashekhar Rao’s leadership during the 14‑year Telangana movement and criticised Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud for their remarks.
Sharmistha Mukherjee, his daughter, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to thank him for this honour. Mukherjee’s memorial, which will be placed within the same complex, will serve as a tribute to his immense contribution to India
