Maharashtra RTOs have launched a statewide drive to test the working knowledge of Marathi among taxi and autorickshaw drivers. Those unable to answer a 16-question test satisfactorily will receive one-month notices and face badge suspension if they fail again.
The Telangana Transport Department has introduced a new system allowing permanent registration of vehicles directly at automobile showrooms, eliminating the need for buyers to visit RTOs. Effective January 24, authorised dealers will submit online applications, upload required documents and receive registration numbers digitally.
The Transport Department has expanded Sarathi online services across all Hyderabad RTOs, allowing licence renewals and address changes digitally. Vahan platform for vehicle registrations will be launched soon, enabling registrations at dealership level and reducing the need to visit RTOs.
