The Forest Department has strongly contested the findings of a report by the State Dam Safety Organisation (SDSO) that flagged crocodiles as a risk to Manjeera dam operations.
Principal Secretary Rahul Bojja said the Manjeera dam is structurally safe and not under immediate threat. The government will begin Rs 6.5 crore worth of apron and earth dam repairs following SDSO recommendations. Crest gate leakages will also be addressed
The open inquiry session focused on the structural integrity and safety protocols of the Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla barrages. Justice Ghose inquired whether model studies were conducted as required before the construction of the barrages.
He also interacted with the Chief Engineer of the Project and Engineer in Chief (General) Anil Kumar as part of his information gathering exercise at the barrage site.
The NDSA expert team has made significant progress in gathering information for its investigation into the structural issues reported in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme's barrages.
