Residents of Gangubhai Basthi and Srinivasa Nagar in Ameerpet have expressed concern over delayed stormwater drain works, fearing flooding during the monsoon. Locals blame poor coordination between GHMC and HMWSSB, while students complain about difficulties caused by ongoing excavation.
The GHMC has started major stormwater drain works at Maitrivanam in Ameerpet, leading to severe traffic congestion. Officials say the project, aimed at reducing flooding during rains, will be completed in two to three weeks despite current commuter inconvenience
Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav inspected the stormwater drain in Begumpet and asked the officials to expedite the works. Mayor G Vijaya Laxmi also inspected the drains located in GHMC Charminar zone.
