Javelin thrower Antil says he felt relieved after having fulfilled the promise he made to the Prime Minister following his first gold in Tokyo

In a proud moment for India, para-athletes Sumit Antil and Bhagyashri Jadhav led the country's largest-ever Paralympic contingent, consisting of 84 athletes competing in 12 different sports.

Sumit, along with Bhagyashree Jadhav (shot put, F34 category) will be Indian flag bearer at the opening ceremony of the Paralympics Games to be held from August 28 to September 8, 2024.

In his third attempt, Sumit shattered the Asian Para Games, World, and Asian records with a throw of 73.29m, securing the gold medal

The 22-year-old athlete competed in the third leg of the Indian Grand Prix along with India's top javelin throwers, including Asian Games champion Neeraj Chopra, and finished seventh.
