The Centre and the National Testing Agency (NTA) informed a vacation bench of justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta that students who received grace marks would have the option to take a re-test.
The apex court, however, refused to stay the counselling process and posted the case for hearing on July 8. "Let the counselling start, we are not stopping the counselling," the bench remarked.
The poll body said that it has taken note of a pattern that is going on in "creating false narratives and mischievous design to vitiate electoral process".
The term of gram panchayats in the State expired on February 1 this year and the State government had appointed special officers in their place. The term of the MPTCs and ZPTCs will end on July 3.

As a bench headed by Justice Sanjiv Khanna was rising for the day, it told Enforcement Directorate counsel Additional Solicitor General SV Raju that it may pass the order on interim relief to Kejriwal on Friday.
He said that he won in the polls by contesting on the ticket of the BRS. He hoped that he would be able to secure a stay from the Supreme Court against the judgment of HC.
According to information on the Supreme Court's website, a bench led by CJI D.Y. Chandrachud, along with Justices J.B. Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, is scheduled to hear the case on March 29.
