The Telangana Medical Council inspected several clinics and nursing homes in Hyderabad on Sunday over alleged unauthorised medical practice. The inspections covered Nanakramguda, Serilingampally, Golconda and Rajendranagar. The council said it would examine records and take appropriate action.
Doctors in Telangana, including IMA and TTGDA, oppose the government’s order expanding the Telangana Medical Council with ex officio members. They say it weakens doctors’ representation, compromises oversight, and urge withdrawal of GO Ms No 229 for democratic governance.
The National Medical Commission has asked medical colleges to form committees to monitor prescription practices and ensure legible handwriting. Doctors have been advised to write generic drug names clearly, while experts stress transparency to improve patient safety.
