TGMC inspects clinics allegedly run by unqualified practitioners

The Telangana Medical Council inspected several clinics and nursing homes in Hyderabad on Sunday over alleged unauthorised medical practice. The inspections covered Nanakramguda, Serilingampally, Golconda and Rajendranagar. The council said it would examine records and take appropriate action.

Hyderabad: Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) on Sunday conducted inspections at several clinics and nursing homes in Nanakramguda, Serlingampally, Golconda and Rajendranagar, which were allegedly operated by unqualified individuals.

The clinics inspected in Nanakramguda included Bhaskar Clinic, Sai Ganesh First Aid Centre, Mother First Aid Centre, Sai Clinic and Shreya Hospital, none of which were operated by a qualified MBBS doctor, said TGMC.

The inspecting team of Dr G Srinivas, Dr V Naresh Kumar, and Dr KUN Vishnu also inspected hospitals including Shreya Hospital in Serilingampally, Shifa Clinic in Golconda and Health Care Clinic in Rajendranagar.

At Shreya Hospital, Dr P Sharath Babu allegedly presented himself as an MS Orthopaedic Surgeon and Joint Replacement Surgeon and performed orthopaedic surgeries, including joint replacement procedures.

Documents claiming completion of MS Orthopaedics were submitted to the authorities, despite not having registration with the Telangana Medical Council.

The hospital registration, medical qualifications, surgical records, submitted certificates, and relevant permissions will be examined and appropriate action taken, TGMC said.
