Contractors in Telangana are avoiding tendu leaves collected by tribals due to poor quality, preferring supplies from Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. This has led to a sharp decline in procurement, threatening the seasonal livelihood of tribal families who depend on the activity for income.
The family members of the missing women, who went into the forest to collect Tendu leaves, tried to contact them over phone, but they could not and even as the villagers launched a search, police was also informed.
