The Telangana State United Teachers’ Federation (TS UTF) has urged the government to reduce qualifying marks for the Telangana Teacher Eligibility Test (TGTET) January 2026 or grant additional weightage marks based on years of service.
With exams scheduled from January 3, teachers are juggling regular classroom work, while simultaneously preparing for the TET. Overall, the School Education department received 2,37,754 applications, with 85,538 for Paper-I and 1,52,216 for Paper-II, including applications from other than in-service teachers
In response to the notification issued by the School Education department, a staggering 49,326 in-service teachers registered for the TET 2026. Before the NCTE notification dated August 23, 2010, teachers appointed in government and local body schools were exempted from appearing for the TET.
