Farmers in Khammam district are still awaiting the Rs 500 per quintal bonus promised for Yasangi paddy, even as officials prepare for Vanakalam procurement. Over Rs 65 crore remains unpaid to more than 18,000 farmers, prompting many to consider selling their produce to private buyers.
A distributory of the Singur left bank canal breached at Isojipet in Pulkal mandal, Sangareddy, on Sunday—the second such incident in a year. Officials blamed heavy inflows, while farmers alleged poor-quality repairs. Health Minister Damodara Rajanarasimha inspected the site.
