The BBC reported that Hawaii Governor Josh Green cautioned on Saturday that the death toll might increase substantially as forensic efforts persist in identifying the victims.

On Friday evening, a fourth fire erupted in Kaanapali, a coastal area in West Maui located north of Lahaina, however, authorities managed to quickly extinguish it.

Lahaina has, with very few exceptions, been consumed by the fires, stated Josh Green, Hawaii's Governor.

Evacuees received safe shelters in gym facilities, conference centers, schools, and public places, along with essential provisions like food, water, and medical aid, thanks to the efforts of authorities and volunteers on the ground.

The Ministry of Climate Change and Civil Protection said it was “the largest evacuation from a wildfire in the country.”
