Nagarkurnool: Timely intervention by Nagarkurnool forest officials helped in dousing the wildfire that broke out around 11.30 pm on Monday at Nilaram banda of Domalpenta forest range.
Soon after getting an alert, two teams of forest department rushed to spot and controlled the fire by 1.30 in the midnight, said Deputy Conservator of Forests, Nagarkurnool, Kista Goud.

Armed with blowers, beaters and other equipment, the two teams comprising five members each, swung into action and controlled the fire from spreading further, he said.

Domalpenta is about 20 kms away from Srisailam and many devotees trek to the temple and take rest and cook along the roadsides. The fire could have occurred after a matchstick or other combustible material being dumped at the location, he said.
Generally, during this part of the year, such incidents occur regularly and field staff are constantly monitoring the entire range, Goud added.
