A woman from Saidabad was cheated of Rs 3.38 lakh by a man she met on a matrimonial website. Pretending to be a UK-based doctor, he sent fake visa and marriage papers and made her pay various fees. Cybercrime police are investigating.
According to the police, the woman received a call from an individual, who claimed to be a TRAI agent, and informed that her phone number was linked to a police case, related to online harassment, booked in Mumbai.
Superintendent of Police D Uday Kumar Reddy called upon people buying land to be cautious. He suggested them to check the documents and field multiple times before going for registration.
