Hyderabad: Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has called upon people to take energy conservation as a personal responsibility, stating that wastage of energy today will result in energy shortage tomorrow.
“Energy conservation, efficient use of energy, and the promotion of renewable energy sources are vital for the country to realize its goal of emerging as an energy independent country during the next 25 years,” she said.
Participating as chief guest at Telangana State Energy Conservation Awards (TSECA-2021) function organised by the Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation here on Sunday, she emphasised the need for promoting awareness at all levels on energy conservation.
“The energy conservation must begin at our homes and then the country will automatically avoid lot of energy consumption that is resulting in global warming and the fast depletion of natural resources,” she added.
The Governor pointed out that the need to promote alternate energy production and its use in order to reduce the dependency on fossil fuels. “Efficient use of energy and its conservation assumes greater importance. She appreciated the efforts of the State government in the power sector and its initiative to promote greenery through Haritha Haram. She asked the TSREDCO to intensify its efforts in promoting renewable energy in a bigger way.
In another programme, at Mishra Dhatu Nigam, she said MIDHANI has a greater role to play in contributing to the country’s self-reliance in the defence sector. She said the country was making all efforts to achieve self-reliance in terms of defence equipment and other strategic metals.
