Take steps to avert road accidents: Medak Collector
Collector suggested the officials to build speed breakers, install studs and blinkers to control speed and indicate the presence of culverts and curves
Medak: District Collector S Harish suggested to forest officials to create food zones at three or four places in Narsapur forest area where animal lovers can feed monkeys in these designated locations. The Collector made the suggestion when he came to know that some people were dangerously parking their vehicles on the roadside to feed monkeys on Narsapur-Toopran road that was resulting in road accidents.
Harish has instructed the officials to initiate various steps collectively to prevent the road accidents across Medak district.
During the District Safety Committee meeting in Collectorate on Wednesday, the Collector suggested the officials to build speed breakers, install studs and blinkers to control speed and indicate the presence of culverts and curves. Alerting the officials over increasing road accidents on Narsapur to Toofran road, Harish has said that as many as 458 road accidents reported in district this year. He has asked them to conduct a deep study to find the reasons for the ever increasing road accidents which would help to take up preventive measures.
Since a number of accidents are occurring during nights, he has directed them to grow trees on road dividers so that the impact of headlights will be controlled. He has further suggested them to concentrate on over speeding besides sensitising the vehicle users to wear seat belt and helmets while driving for their safety.
He has also informed that he will write to the Director of Medical and Health to send a Advanced Life Saving ambulance to Medak so that it will help them to save lives. DSPs Krishna Murthy, Kiran Kumar, RTA Srinivas Goud, Excise Superintendent Srinivas Reddy, DMHO, Venkateshwarlu, Panchayatraj EE Ramachandra Reddy, Representatives of Highways and others were present.
