Khammam: District Collector VP Gautham has directed the district revenue officials to take immediate steps to protect government lands from encroachments.

He along with Municipal Commissioner Adarsh Surabhi inspected government lands in Khammam Urban mandal on Wednesday. He also inspected government lands at Burhanpuram, NSP Camp area, BC Bhavan, VDOs Colony and Ballepally in the city.

Gautham told officials to fix boundaries around the identified government lands and preventive measures have to be taken to safeguard government lands from being encroached by others. He suggested developing a Pattana Prakriti Vanam on government land at Burhanpuram for public use.

Similarly, proper measures to resolve pending court cases involving government lands have to be taken and steps to stop illegal mining in government lands have to be taken by bringing those lands into use, he noted.

Collector directed the concerned officials to carry out a survey of government lands as per records and submit a comprehensive report at the earliest. Khammam RDO, Ravindranath and others were present.

Later in the day at the district Collectorate, Gautham handed over appointment letters to four persons who were given government jobs on compassionate grounds following the death of their family members.
