While most of us fantasise about meeting our favourite celebrities one day, some fans do extreme things to actually make it a reality. Recently, a die-hard of Rashmika Mandanna travelled 900 kilometres – from Telangana to Karnataka – to meet his favourite star. He couldn’t fulfil his wish because the actor was in Mumbai at the time. When Rashmika heard the news, she urged her fans to not do such extreme things because it makes her feel bad. She said she hopes to meet him someday.
“Guys it just came to my notice that one of you had travelled super far and have gone home to see me… Please don’t do something like that.. i feel bad that I didn’t get to meet you I really really hope to meet you one day but for now show me love here.. I’ll be happy! (sic),” she tweeted.
In another instance, actor Ram Charan’s ardent fans Sandhya Jayraj, Ravi and Veeresh recently walked all the way from Jogulamba Gadwal to his residence in Hyderabad, nearly 231 kilometres for four days, to meet their beloved star. The ‘RRR’ actor welcomed them with a warm hug and had an elaborate conversation with them. Charan was even seen hugging a fan, much to his excitement.
Neither are these one off incidents nor is this crazy fandom limited to the Telugu film industry alone. Even in Bollywood, we have seen fans going to a certain extent to prove their love for their idols. Many years ago, an ardent fan of Aamir Khan had cycled all the way from Ranchi to Mumbai to meet the actor. Apparently, he also collected love letters from other fans along the way. Later, pictures of Aamir interacting with his fan had gone viral. Around two weeks ago, actor-philanthropist Sonu Sood’s fan walked 700 km from Vikarabad in Hyderabad to Mumbai hoping he would be able to meet the star.
In September 2020, Allu Arjun’s fan embarked on some sort of ‘padayatra’ (walk) of around 250 kilometres from Macherla to Hyderabad to meet the Ala.. Vaikunthapurramulo actor and garner attention to his attempt in the process. A year earlier, in September 2019, superstar Akshay Kumar’s die-hard fan took it upon himself to bridge the 900-kilometre gap between him and his screen idol by walking from Dwarka to Mumbai.
And our actors seem super excited about such craze and love their fans shower on them.
