Targeting KCR has become Revanth Reddy’s sole agenda, says Sabitha

BRS leader Sabitha Indra Reddy accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of focusing on attacks against KCR and BRS leaders instead of people’s issues. She criticised his remarks on 22-A lands and alleged that BRS legislators were being targeted politically.

Hyderabad: BRSLP deputy leader and former Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy slammed Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for making attacks on BRS chief and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and his family the central agenda of his political discourse. She lashed out at him for using Assembly proceedings to launch personal attacks on Opposition leaders for political goals, rather than taking up people’s issues.

She said Revanth’s speech on 22-A lands failed to provide relief to lakhs of families living in fear over their properties. “Instead, he spent valuable Assembly time making personal allegations against BRS leaders,” she remarked.

Addressing a press meet at Telangana Bhavan here on Thursday, Sabitha Indra Reddy accused Revanth Reddy of insulting BRS women legislators and registering cases against 13 BRS legislators, including women MLAs who were subjected to the alleged physical humiliation while being denied entry into the Assembly. She alleged that she and BRS MLA V Sunitha Laxma Reddy were denied registration of their complaints at a police station despite approaching it over the alleged incident.

“I served as a Home Minister for 13 years, but never stepped into a police station to file a complaint. Our complaint is not even being registered for investigation,” she said.

Holding Revanth responsible for her and Mahabubnagar MP DK Aruna’s exit from Congress, the former Minister said she had joined the party in 2000 after the death of her husband Indra Reddy, while Revanth entered Congress much later. She rejected his claims about having secured a ticket for her son, P Karthik Reddy, stating she had made sacrifices for his political career.

Sabitha Indra Reddy questioned Revanth’s right to speak about defections and challenged him to examine her election affidavits since 2000 to establish whether her assets had increased. She pointed out that the Chief Minister had admitted that BRS chief Chandrashekhar Rao owned only 67 acres, after repeatedly alleging that he had a 1,000-acre farmhouse. She urged Revanth to behave in accordance with the dignity of his office.
