Hyderabad: District committees of the Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) have lodged criminal complaints with police officials in Khammam, Warangal, Adilabad, and Mahbubnagar against the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) for alleged misuse of funds under the guise of district cricket development over the past 20 years.

In a statement issued on Monday, the TCA alleged that while HCA has been claiming in its annual accounts that Rs 20 lakh is allotted each year towards district cricket development, a forensic audit conducted by Ernst & Young revealed no evidence of such funds being utilized in the districts.

“The then High Court-appointed committee and both Supreme Court-appointed committees recommended a probe and action against those responsible for the misuse of funds. However, those recommendations have been repeatedly ignored and bypassed by successive HCA administrations,” the TCA stated.

As a result, the TCA units in four districts have submitted criminal complaints against the respective HCA-affiliated clubs operating in their regions. Similar complaints from the remaining district units are expected to be filed on Tuesday.

“TCA demands appropriate criminal action against all clubs that have siphoned off publicly accountable funds meant for uplifting downtrodden and rural cricketers in Telangana,” the statement added.
