Hyderabad: A tea vendor who allegedly assaulted a minor girl sexually on the pretext of marrying her was arrested by the Vanasthalipuram police on Saturday.

Sadarapalli Sai Kumar (20), a resident of Vanasthalipuram and native of Mahabubnagar, allegedly lured a minor girl, also a resident of Vanasthalipuram.

“On July 14, he took the girl to a building at Vanasthalipuram and sexually assaulted her. He was in touch with her for the last one year and was waiting for an opportunity,” the Vanasthalipuram police said.

Based on a complaint from the victim, a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, POCSO Act and the SC and ST Act was booked against him.
