Hyderabad: Government and local body school teachers staged a massive protest at Dharna Chowk on Saturday, demanding the State government address long-pending issues in the school education sector.
Organised by the Upadhyaya Sanghala Porata Committee (USPC), the protest saw teachers pressing for the release of pending bills and pensions. They also sought sanctioning of new DEO, Deputy DEO, and MEO posts across districts.
The protesters demanded the government frame unified service rules for teachers, fill vacant teaching and non-teaching posts, and revoke what they termed as “unscientific” teacher adjustment orders.
Other demands included ensuring one teacher per class in primary schools with over 40 students, implementation of the Pay Revision Commission (PRC), abolition of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), and sanctioning of primary school headmaster posts.
The teachers criticised the Congress government, stating that even after 20 months in power, it had failed to resolve their long-pending issues.
