CPI (M) politburo member Brinda Karat addressing the 4th Telangana Mahasabhas in Sangareddy on Saturday.
Sangareddy: CPI (M) politburo member Brinda Karat said IT companies in Telangana and Karnataka, where the Congress was ruling, were forcing employees to work for 12 to 13 hours per day like they were doing in Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled States.
Addressing the inaugural session of the 4th Telangana Mahasabhas of CPI (M) party in Sangareddy on Saturday, Karat said this was against the spirit of the Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A) bloc which was strongly opposing the system of 12 to 13 hours of work per day.
She accused the BJP of supporting IT companies that violate labour Acts. She said corporates multiplied their worth by 400 times with the government’s support. Karat called upon the working class and farmers to join hands to fight against violations of the labour Acts.
Talking about the lack of minimum wages for employees working in industries, Karat said thousands of migrant workers were working in 4,000 industries in Sangareddy, but were denied minimum wages.
Accusing Home Minister Amit Shah of humiliating Dr BR Ambedkar, she said Shah never respected the Indian Constitution and Ambedkar since he was a strong supporter of Godse and Gautam Adani. Karat further alleged that the BJP was dividing the country on the lines of caste and religion for political gains.
Recalling how Communists led the Telangana armed struggle to free the State from the clutches of the Nizam rule, she also remembered party general secretary Sitaram Yechury, who passed away recently, and his association with Telangana.
The venue of the meeting was named after Yechury. Party leaders BV Raghavulu, Tammineni Veerabhadram, S Veeraiah, Chukka Ramulu and others were present.
