Teenager adopts peacock at Nehru Zoo

Class 10 student, Meghana visited the Zoo Park along with her family members and offered to adopt a peacock on her birthday for a period of two-months

Hyderabad: A class 10 student from Hyderabad, Meghana has adopted a peacock at Nehru Zoological Park (NZP) for a period of two-months, according to zoo authorities. The youngster visited the Zoo Park along with her family members and offered to adopt a peacock on her birthday.

The teenager, who is the daughter of one Satish, presented a cheque of Rs 5,000 to Curator of Nehru Zoological Park, V V L Subhadra Devi.

Speaking on the occasion, Subhadra Devi thanked Meghana and her family members for opting to adopt a peacock on her birthday and also said that she is happy to see that teenagers are coming forward to adopt the animals in Zoo and showing keen interest in Wildlife conservation. The Curator of Hyderabad Zoo also appealed to the citizens to come forward in more numbers to adopt the animals.

Meghana along with family members visited the peacock enclosure of the Nehru Zoological Park and expressed satisfaction over the zoo management in maintaining the standards, the press release said.
