Hyderabad: A teenage boy died allegedly after a snake bit him while playing at the Mahatma Jyothiba Phule BC Welfare Residential Hostel at Bogaram village in Keesara on city outskirts on Sunday night.
The victim was G.Shiva Shankar (13), a class eight student at Mahatma Jyothiba Phule BC Welfare Residential School and a native of Marpally of Vikarabad district.
According to the police, on Sunday evening around 6pm, Shiva Shankar, who was playing in the ground along with his other friends, was allegedly bitten by an unidentified snake.
The school authorities, who were alerted by fellow students, rushed Shiva Shankar to a private hospital nearby. He died while undergoing treatment around 9.20pm.
Following the incident, mild tension prevailed at the school premise as parents of students staged a protest. The police intervened and brought the situation under control.
The body was shifted to the Gandhi Hospital morgue and handed over to the family after an autopsy on Monday.
Police said more details will be known after the autopsy.
