Hyderabad: In a dramatic display of courage and selfless service, two emergency technicians of 108 ambulance service walked two kilometers on a railway track in the dead of the night to rescue a grievously injured passenger, who fell on the tracks while travelling in Dakshin Express.
The incident reportedly occurred at around 3 am on Thursday near Ghanpur railway station, Jangaon district, Telangana, when a passenger, identified as Avinash from Ballarshah, traveling from Hyderabad, fell onto the railway tracks.
According to unconfirmed reports, due to heavy crowding, Avinash was reportedly standing near the entrance when he lost his balance and fell onto the tracks near Ghanpur station, sustaining serious head injuries.
Railway officials immediately contacted the emergency services, prompting the dispatch of a 108 Ambulance crew.
Reports indicated that 108 pilot Rajanna and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Rajender, on reaching the area that was accessible by road, realized that the injured man was located deep within an inaccessible section of the tracks, far from the station platform.
Demonstrating extraordinary dedication, the two heroes provided immediate first aid at the remote spot. They then placed the injured Avinash onto a stretcher and began the arduous journey, walking a distance of two kilometers along the dark, uneven railway line, according to reports.
After toiling in the midnight darkness, they successfully reached their waiting 108 vehicle and immediately travelled all the way to MGM Hospital in Warangal, which is around 70 kilometers from Ghanpur station.
Avinash was quickly admitted to the emergency department for treatment. Doctors are currently attending to his severe head injuries.
The remarkable effort of Pilot Rajanna and EMT Rajender has earned widespread praise from the Ghanpur Station Master, fellow passengers, and the medical community, highlighting the crucial and often challenging work performed by emergency medical service providers.
