Hyderabad: To provide quality education to the students amid the Covid pandemic, the number of digital and e-learning classrooms will be increased from 1,276 to 1,696 in 281 BC welfare residential schools. A decision to this effect was taken by BC Welfare Minister Gangula Kamalakar during the Board meeting of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Telangana Backward Classes Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (MJPTBCWREIS) at the Minister’s chambers on Friday.

In association with Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TSREDCO), the Society will set up solar water heaters in all BC Gurukuls to provide hot water to students. Further, the Society has decided to strengthen the academic cell and internal audit teams as well as develop a system to constantly monitor the condition of residential schools through efficient functioning of committees on hygiene, building appearances and food quality assurance.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Gangula Kamalakar wanted the BC Gurukuls to function as per the aspirations of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao who was giving priority to BC welfare especially by providing quality education through residential schools. He pointed out that number of BC Gurukuls was increased from 16 in 2014-15 to 281 by 2020-21 where thousands of students from BC communities are pursuing their education.

The Board meeting was also attended by Principal Secretary for BC Welfare Burra Venkatesham, MJPTBCWREIS secretary Mallaiah Battu and other directors, to discuss and to approve an action plan for 2022-23. TSREDCO vice-chairman and managing director N Janaiah and other officials also participated in the meeting.
