Telangana: 673 motorists caught in drunk driving, 21 minors caught driving in Khammam
Many people have already been sentenced to one day imprisonment/fine

Khammam: Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt informed that cases have been registered against 673 persons caught driving vehicles under the influence of alcohol in the past 20 days in Khammam.
Similarly 21 minors who were driving vehicles on the roads in violation of the rules were also caught, the CP said in a statement on Monday. People who drink alcohol and drive vehicles were not only losing their lives but also punishing their families, he said.
Strict action would be taken against individuals if caught driving under the influence of alcohol. Many people have already been sentenced to one day imprisonment/fine. In view of the high number of road accidents on Saturdays and Sundays, police have been instructed to intensify drunk and driving checks on those days, Dutt said.
Cases were registered against the parents of minors who were caught driving the vehicles; they were produced before the court, which imposed a fine on them. Special drives to check minors driving vehicles, drunk and driving would continue, he added.
