Telangana: 93-year-old woman overcomes Covid-19 in Jagtial

A native of Katkapur in Raikal mandal, Narsamma tested positive for Covid-19 on April 11.

Jagitial: A 93-year-old woman overcame the deadly coronavirus without facing any health problems. Narsamma has become a role model to others by gaining upper hand on the virus. A native of Katkapur in Raikal mandal, Narsamma tested positive for Covid-19 on April 11.

Though about 100 persons from the village were infected by corona and two of them succumbed to the virus, the woman did not lose confidence. Instead of panicking, she followed doctors’ instructions in home isolation and got rid of the virus. She tested negative for corona on April 23.

Since Narsamma was a vegetarian right from childhood, she had not consumed non-vegetarian food even in-home isolation despite family members’ pressure. Besides consuming nutritious vegetarian food, she took medicines advised by the doctors.

Speaking on the occasion, Narsamma informed that up to the age of 40 years, she had not consumed meals made of rice and she used to consume only gatka (made of maize) and vegetables. That was why she was healthy even at the age of 93.

People should not be afraid when they are infected by diseases. Only then they could overcome health problems, she advised.

Narsamma, who lost her husband 15 years ago, has three children.
