Hyderabad: IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao on Sunday said Telangana was in a much better position as compared to other States in ensuring the availability of oxygen and medicines to Covid-19 patients in the State.

Stating that the Telangana government was ensuring continuous supply of oxygen and other essential medicines to avoid any deaths, he said, “Under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the government is working in complete coordination with medical institutions. Public representatives and officials are on the field to take stock of the situation and are acting swiftly during any emergency.”

The Minister was speaking after receiving 200 oxygen concentrators donated by leading renewable energy firm Greenko to the State. The oxygen concentrators, which reached Hyderabad by a special flight from China, were handed over to the government in the presence of Rama Rao and Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar at Shamshabad International Airport.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the State government was taking all measures to combat the pandemic. He said Hyderabad has been providing treatment to Covid patients from neighbouring States as well. The Minister thanked the Centre for increasing the supply of oxygen, Remdesivir vials and also vaccines to Telangana.

“Setting aside political ideologies, parties and public representatives are working as a team to combat the pandemic in the State,” Rama Rao said. The Minister appreciated Greenko Group for coming forward to donate 1,000 oxygen concentrators to different States in India.

In its first phase, the firm handed over 200 oxygen concentrators to Telangana. The Minister thanked Greenko Group MD and CEO Anil Chalamasetty for helping the State government during these testing times. He also thanked the management of Indigo Airlines for facilitating the transport of oxygen concentrators from China.

He said various corporate organisations were coming forward to help the State government during the pandemic. He appealed to other corporate firms to come and join hands with the government in combating Covid. Somesh Kumar said that with the arrival of 200 oxygen concentrators, an additional 2 mts of oxygen will be available now.
