Telangana: Akhil Mahajan appointed Superintendent of Police of Adilabad

Mahajan was SP of Rajanna Sircilla district and Deputy Commissioner of Police of Mancherial district in the past

Adilabad: Superintendent of Police Gaush Alam was transferred and replaced by Akhil Mahajan as part of a major reshuffle of IPS officers taken up by the Telangana government on Friday.

Alam was posted as SP of the district on January 3, 2024. He was instrumental in preventing communal clashes in the district headquarters and bringing the situation under control in Jainoor mandal centre, which was rocked by communal tensions in 20204.

He clamped down on smuggling of gutkha and PDS rice in the district using a special task force team.

A 2017 batch IPS officer, Mahajan was SP of Rajanna Sircilla district. He was Deputy Commissioner of Police of Mancherial district in the past.
