According to the neighbours, Raju, who used to run the family by working on powerlooms, had performed the marriages of both daughters and son, but in the process, incurred debts of about Rs.6 lakh.

However, Raju was left without work during the last few months. Unable to run the family and clear his debts, he got addicted to liquor consumption and was depressed.
