Hyderabad: The Amateur Telangana Pickleball Association (ATPA) held a productive meeting with senior representatives from the World Pickleball League (WPBL) and the Hyderabad Super Stars franchise team regarding measures to be taken for the promotion of the sport in a big way across the State.
Arjuna Awardee and seven-times national tennis champion Gaurav Natekar and founder of WPBL, Ms. Charlotte, CEO, WPL, Mr. Varma, Representative of Hyderabad Super Stars Franchise and ATPA core team members Ms. Arati Ponappan, former national champion, attended the meeting.
Some of the highlights of the meeting centred on promoting the sport of pickleball across Telangana through a strategic partnership between ATPA, WPBL, and the Hyderabad Super Stars, talent hunt and youth development programmes.
There will be a State-level Talent Hunt targeting under-14 and under-19 categories across Telangana, hosting major events and creating the necessary infrastructure with LB Stadium, KVBR Indoor Stadium (Yousufguda), and Gachibowli Indoor
Stadium are identified for upcoming events during the monsoon season.
It is also informed that film star Rakul Preet Singh will be the brand ambassador for the upcoming events.
