Khammam: An Armed Reserve (AR) constable, whose marriage engagement ceremony was scheduled on Monday, was found dead in a private hotel room in the city on Monday.
The deceased, Ashok Kumar (28) of Yagna Narayanapuram village in Kallur mandal in the district, allegedly committed suicide. He was found hanging from the ceiling of a room in Budget Hotel in Gandhi Chowk area in the early hours of Monday. Sources said the AR constable checked into the hotel on January 8 at 1am. The hotel maintenance staff knocked on the door on Monday but he did not open it, folllowing which the hotel management informed the police.
Additional ACP Ghaush Alam visited the spot. The local police booked a case and launched a probe into the incident. According to family members, Kumar joined the service in 2020 in Khammam, and was later sent to Kothagudem to serve in Special Party Police. His last posting was in Mulug. The exact reason behind Kumar taking the extreme step is yet to be ascertained.
