Hyderabad: Amidst Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLAs insisting for a discussion on atrocities against tribal farmers in Lagacherla for the second consecutive day on Tuesday, Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar adjourned the Assembly to meet at 10 am on Wednesday.

Sporting black shirts, the BRS MLAs held placards of the Lagacherla farmer in handcuffs. As the Speaker appealed to the BRS MLAs to cooperate in passing the government bills, they raised “Rythu Ku bedila Siggu Siggu (handcuffs to farmers Shame Shame).”

The House proceedings commenced after a break at 3 pm for discussion on the Young India Physical Education and Sports University Bill. As Congress MLA Raj Thakur commenced his speech, the BRS MLAs continued their slogans and did not occupy their seats.

Intervening, Legislative Affairs Minister D Sridhar Babu charged that BRS MLAs did not want a healthy discussion and were hell bent on disrupting the House.

On the other hand, the BJP MLAs also held placards and insisted on the legal sanctity for six guarantees. They squatted at the Speaker’s podium.

Continuing their sloganeering, the BRS MLAs approached towards the Speaker podium and were obstructed by nearly two dozen marshals.

As the BRS MLAs continued “Jai Telangana” and “Nahi Chalega Nahi Chalega Tanashahi Nahi Chalega” slogans, the Speaker announced that the Young India Physical Education and Sports University, the Telangana Universities (Amendment) Bill and Telangana Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bills were passed.

He later wanted Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao to speak in a short discussion on the “Telangana State Tourism Policy”. Unrelenting, the BRS MLAs continued their slogans and countering them, with the Congress MLAs responding with their own placards.

After Congress MLA Adi Srinivas’s speech, the Speaker announced that the House was adjourned to meet at 10 am on Wednesday.
