Telangana Assembly adjourned due to delayed Cabinet meeting
For the first time in the history of Telangana Assembly and the Legislative Council, the ruling party sought to adjourn the House, due to delayed discussion in the State Cabinet on crucial subjects to be taken up for discussion in the House
Hyderabad: The special sessions of the Telangana Assembly and Legislative Council were adjourned shortly after commencement on Monday. For the first time in the history of Telangana Assembly and the Legislative Council, the ruling party sought to adjourn the House, due to delayed discussion in the State Cabinet on crucial subjects to be taken up for discussion in the House.
The adjournment comes as the State Cabinet prepares to discuss two key reports – Socio Economic Political Survey report of BCs and SC Categorisation report. Submitted by the Planning department, the Socio Economic Political Survey report is crucial for determining BC reservations in local bodies. It was presented to the BC Cabinet subcommittee on Sunday. Similarly, a one-member commission headed by Justice Shamim Akhtar submitted its findings on SC categorisation to the subcommittee on Monday.
Meanwhile, the State Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has been convened at the Assembly Hall, to review and approve both reports. While the Cabinet meeting was scheduled at 10 am, the reports were scheduled to be tabled in the Assembly and also the Council at 11 am. However, due to delay in the Cabinet meeting, both the Houses were adjourned till 2 pm.
