Telangana: Bhainsa Excise Inspector, constable arrested for taking bribe

Nirmal: An inspector and a constable, both women, working with the Prohibition and Excise Department were arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 on Tuesday.

Adilabad ACB in-charge DSP Ramana Murthy said Sub-Inspector Nirmala and the constable, Sujatha, were caught red-handed when the duo was receiving the bribe from Subhash Goud, a trader of toddy for doing an official favour.

The Inspector reportedly wanted the bribe to avoid cases against the trader, following a complaint against him for selling it out of his jurisdiction.

The ACB laid a trap when Subhash approached them after the Inspector harassed him demanding the bribe. They detained Sujatha while accepting the bribe from the complainant. They then arrested Nirmala who allegedly instructed the constable to collect the bribe.

The Inspector and constable were produced before a special court for ACB cases in Karimnagar. A case was registered against the two. Investigations were taken up.
