Hyderabad: Students often find themselves suffering with fear, anxiety, stress and pressure to perform as the Intermediate exams are around the corner. But, this should not be the issue for students as the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TG BIE) has come up with steps to help them take the exams at ease this year.

To help students deal with emotional and mental challenges, the Board introduced the HELP (Heartfulness Experience Life’s Potential) programme for its students. The programme is aimed at reducing stress and anxiety levels among students especially during the examinations.

In collaboration with the Heartfulness Education Trust, the Board has been organising training sessions on managing exam stress and anxiety. The programme has three sessions in a week with 45 minutes for each session comprising two parts — life skill and experience section.

Students are being imparted training in how to build confidence to handle fear and doubts. Sessions also cover time management, rejuvenation, meditation, decision-making skills, and connecting with inner self.

The initiative has already been grounded in 307 government junior colleges covering close to 50,000 students.

“This is the first-of-its-kind initiative by the Board, which, with the help of Heartfulness Education Trust volunteers, is helping students reduce stress and anxiety levels. The sessions will be held till commencement of the theory exams. The initiative will be extended to private institutions as well in the next academic year,” a senior official told ‘Telangana Today’.

Students experiencing stress, anxiety, fear of failure or pressure to perform in exams can also dial 14416 to reach out to Tele Manas counsellors who provide free tele counselling services round the clock.

The Intermediate theory exams are scheduled to be held from March 5 to 25. As per the timetable, the English practical exams are on January 31 and February 1, while practical exams for both general and vocational streams have been scheduled from February 3 to 22.
