Hyderabad: With the BJP State unit failing to achieve the target of enrolling 50 lakh members in the State, the party central leadership has extended the membership drive till October 30.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, former MLC and membership drive State in-charge N Ramchandra Rao said a total of 24 lakh BJP members have been registered till date in Telangana. About 4 lakh memberships have been registered through missed calls and 20 lakh memberships online, he said, adding that till October 17, 9,000 people joined as active members.
Membership was being done at the rate of around 45,000 per day, he said, adding that on Monday about 1.30 lakh new members were enrolled. Although the central leadership announced October 15 as the last date for the membership drive, which started on September 2, the date was extended due to various reasons, he said.
