Hyderabad: Telangana boys held their nerves to defeat Rajasthan 29-26 in a closely-fought final to lift the 37th National Sub-Junior Boys title, at the Saroornagar Indoor Stadium on Sunday.
Earlier in the semifinals, Rajasthan defeated Andhra Pradesh 38-28 comfortably to enter the summit clash against the hosts.
MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha, who witnessed the match, presented the trophy to the winners. “Winning and losing is all part of a game. So sportsmen should move on and try to win the title in the next chance”, said Kavitha. Jayesh Ranjan, Secretary to State government, IT, Youth Affairs and Tourism secretary Srinivasaraju, Sports Authority of Telangana State chairman A Venkateshwar Reddy along with Handball Federation of India president A Jagan Mohan Rao, IOA treasurer Anandeshwar Pandey were also present.
Jaganmohan Rao thanked Telangana State Government, Indian Olympic Association (IOA), Sports Authority of India (SAI) for their support for the conduct of the game.
