Telangana: Cabinet Sub-Committee receives report on SC categorisation

Based on Justice Shameem Akhtar panel report, the committee, chaired by Uttam Kumar Reddy, will make recommendations to the Cabinet

HYDERABAD: The Justice Shameem Akhtar Commission on Monday submitted its report on SC categorisation to the Cabinet Sub-Committee chaired by Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy.

Based on the Justice Shameem Akhtar panel report, the Cabinet Sub-Committee will make its recommendations to the Cabinet. It is meeting on Tuesday morning to take a decision on SC categorisation.

In November last, the State government had constituted a Cabinet Sub-Committee to implement the Supreme Court judgment on SC categorization. As per the recommendations of the cabinet sub-committee, the government further constituted justice Shameem Akhtar Commission.

After considering all factors and examining different aspects, the one-man Commission submitted its report on Monday. However, after receiving the Caste Census report on Sunday, the cabinet Ministers held a press meet and shared the details. Similarly, the cabinet Ministers were to hold press meet on Monday afternoon after receiving the report on SC categorization but for reasons better known to the government, the media conference was cancelled.
