Jangaon: Five youths from Nagpur in Maharashtra sustained minor injuries after the car they were travelling in fell into a stream while following directions on Google Maps during the early hours of Saturday.
The mishap occurred near Vadlakonda crossroads in Jangaon district. Upon receiving information, local police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the Jangaon Area Hospital for treatment.
Sources said the group, en route to Tirupati, was following a route shown by Google Maps and failed to notice an under-construction bridge over the Ganugupahad stream. The car plunged into the stream as there were reportedly no warning signs or barricades at the site.
Locals said the bridge on the Jangaon–Husnabad road had been under construction for several years, and several accidents had previously occurred at the same location. Police had recently filled the road verge with soil to prevent such mishaps, but Saturday’s incident highlights the continued danger.
