Siddipet: A daily wager died, allegedly by suicide, after he was cheated by a Dubai agent.
According to family members and villagers of Turkavanikunta in Akkannapet mandal, the victim Boda Srinivas Reddy (40) had borrowed Rs 8 lakh from various sources earlier. When he could not clear the debt, Reddy planned to work in Dubai to earn some money to come out of financial distress. He had borrowed an additional Rs 4 lakh from various sources and paid it to a Dubai agent from Tangallapally in Rajanna Sircilla district.
However, even after paying the entire amount, the agent could not get him work permission to travel to Dubai. While the lenders were insisting for the repayment of the loans, Reddy is said to have decided to end his life. He wrote a suicide note appealing to the police to take stern action against the agent and recover the amount from him.
When the family members were asleep on Monday night, he locked himself inside a room and hanged himself from the ceiling fan. However, his wife heard a noise and alerted her neighbours. They broke open the doors and brought him down. He was then rushed to government hospital in Husnabad where the doctors declared him brought dead.
In the suicide note, Reddy also urged his brothers-in-law to take care of his two children and wife. A case was registered. Investigation is on.
