Hyderabad: With criticism mounting from different sections over frequent incidents of students falling ill after consuming mid-day meals, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday reviewed the situation and directed District Collectors to treat students of government schools, hostels and Gurukuls like their own children and to avoid negligence.
“Collectors should inspect the schools, hostels and Gurukul schools frequently and submit reports,” he said, warning of action against officials and staff members found negligent in providing nutritious food to students. “We will not hesitate to terminate the services of officials found negligent in providing food to students,” he said.
The Chief Minister said several teachers were recruited with an aim to provide good education and diet charges were also increased to provide nutritious food. “Despite taking positive decisions for the welfare of students, some forces have been trying to defame the government. Such forces will be dealt with strictly and those responsible will be punished as per the law,” he said.
He also said some people were deliberately creating rumours and spreading false news over the supply of food in hostels and creating panic among the parents. Strict action should be taken against such persons, he directed the officials.
