Karimnagar: Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Thursday said Telangana was in number one position in taking steps for comprehensive development of BC communities. “The State government under the guidance of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has introduced a number of schemes for comprehensive development of weaker sections,” he said.

“I am happy to inform that Telangana is the only State in the country to provide financial assistance to BC communities through free MBC grant,” he said, after felicitating newly appointed BC Commission member Dr Vakulabaranam Krishnamohan in Huzurabad.

Chandrashekhar Rao, whose objective is to achieve a welfare State, was governing Telangana drawing inspiration from Jyotirao Phule, Ambedkar, Periyar Ramaswamy, Narayanaguru and other social reformists,” he said.

Meanwhile, people from Kamalapur, some of them relatives of BJP leader Eatala Rajender, met with Harish Rao in Huzurabad in the morning and explained their problems to the Minister.

Interacting with the Minister, they said Rajender had encouraged only a few people who amassed crores of rupees. Rajender’s sister locked up the Fisheries Bhavan and harassed fishermenmen by registering police cases, the womenfold complained to the Minister. “Though we live in the same street as Rajender’s, he never bother about our problems. Instead, we were harassed by Rajender through police cases. Though we live in temporary houses, Rajender never took any step to construct double bedroom houses,” they said.

Responding positively to their problems, Harish Rao promised to provide all support to the villagers hereafter and appealed to the people to elect TRS candidate Gellu Srinivas Yadav.
