Hyderabad: Even as the Musi riverfront development project‘s Detailed Project Report (DPR) is yet to be prepared, the Congress government’s contradictory versions over the rehabilitation of the Musi project oustees is leaving them worried.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had initially announced that 1000 acres of land was available at Jawaharnagar for constructing houses for River Musi project oustees.

Then again on October 5, the Chief Minister came up with a new plan, saying that if need be, the Malakpet Race Course and the Amberpet Police Academy would be relocated beyond Hyderabad to construct houses for the affected.

However, in sharp contrast to the Chief Minister’s plans, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Saturday announced yet another rehabilitation plan.

Addressing the gathering at a property show here, the Deputy Chief Minister said the State government was firm in its decision to provide a ‘beautiful life’ to the Musi project oustees.

“Residential towers will be constructed for Musi project oustees in the same area with all the facilities. Integrated schools will be constructed for their children,” Bhatti Vikramarka said, also stating displaced DWCRA women group members would be offered interest-free loans to the tune of Rs.1,000 crore.

This apart, small scale units would also be set up to provide employment opportunities.
