Telangana: Congress spokesperson hits out at Revanth’s brother on ‘dadagiri’ in Kodangal
Says such 'goondaism' would cost the party adversely in the elections, especially local body elections
Vikarabad: After the local people in Kodangal, now Congress party leaders in Vikarabad are taking strong objections to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and his brother A Tirupati Reddy‘s highhandedness and unilateral decisions in acquiring tribal farmers’ land, pointing out that such ‘goondaism’ would cost the party adversely in the elections, especially local body polls.
This is mainly due to the controversy surrounding the acquisition of tribal farmers’ land for establishing a pharma village in Lagacherla and neighbouring villages.
A video of Vikarabad Congress official spokesperson Rajasekhara Reddy slamming the Chief Minister and his brother Tirupati Reddy is going viral on social media platforms.
In the video, Rajasekhara Reddy is seen condemning Tirupati Reddy’s remarks that the pharma village would be set up and land would be acquired for the purpose forcibly, if need be. He demanded that the Chief Minister’s brother withdraw such irresponsible statements immediately.
If farmers and villagers were not willing to part with their lands, the government cannot force them. Alternate locations have to be identified. One cannot act like a dictator and demand the farmers to give their lands, he says.
“Tirupati Reddy can part with his ancestral lands, if any, for the pharma village. But his domination in Vikarabad is damaging the party’s image. This will cast an impact in the next local body elections,” Rajasekhara Reddy said.
If the impact of the disturbances in Lagacherla and neighbouring villages spreads further, Congress leaders would not be in a position to walk on the streets across the State, forget about campaigning for the municipal, ZPTC and MPTC elections, he said.
The entire episode was not Tirupati Reddy’s personal matter but was about the Congress party’s fortunes. This would not be tolerated, he said, adding that the issue would taken up with the party high command.
“Revanth Reddy and his family was involved in another party in the past and he went on to become the Chief Minister after joining the Congress. He could join another party tomorrow,” Rajasekhara Reddy said, demanding that the party initiate action against Tirupati Reddy for his irresponsible statements and behaviour towards the poor.
