Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Thursday called upon party leaders and activists to participate in demonstrations in front of fuel stations on Friday opposing the spiralling petrol and diesel prices and demanding immediate reduction in prices.
In a statement, he said prices of petrol and diesel had been raised indiscriminately while the people were facing indescribable hardships due to Covid pandemic. He said protests should be held in front of the petrol pumps all over the state at 11 am.
The TPCC chief explained that price of petrol breached Rs 100 per litre mark at several places in the country. In the past 13 months, petrol price shot up by Rs 25.72 per litre and diesel by Rs 23.93 per litre. He said that the prices have been raised 43 times and this is an example of the loot of the people by the Centre.
He said the protests should be held strictly adhering to Covid norms. Leaders and workers should wear masks and should maintain social distance during the protests.
