Telangana: Covid special block inaugurated in Mahabubabad
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the contribution made by NRI couple Premchandra Vadekke Vattoli and Poornima Menon from Australia, towards enhancing the medical facilities during this pandemic is unforgettable.
Mahabubabad: With a view to providing medical services to the COVID patients, the State government has established the COVID special block at the Government Area Hospital, Mahabubabad, said Tribal Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod here on Monday. She has inaugurated the COVID block constructed at the cost of Rs 68 lakhs on Monday. Later, the Minister visited the beds allotted to the COVID patients and other medical equipment set up at a cost of Rs 20,86,442 donated by an NRI couple Premchandra Vadekke Vattoli and Poornima Menon, Sydney, Australia, following an initiative by Ramachandru Tejavath, former IAS officer.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the contribution made by the donors towards enhancing the medical facilities during this pandemic is unforgettable.
“Doctors’ efforts to combat the coronavirus must be commended. The State government has imposed lockdown to save the lives of the people,” she said and urged the public to cooperate with the police and the authorities in enforcing the lockdown. The Minister said that they would spend Rs five lakh donated by local MLA Banoth Shankar Naik on his birthday recently on providing equipment to the COVID block. The 40-bed COVID block is presently equipped with 30 beds with an oxygen facility. “Don’t be afraid of COVID, the government is making all efforts to provide quality treatment. The COVID treatment is being offered at the Gudur, Thorrur and Garla health centres,” she added.
ZP chairperson Angothu Bindhu, MLA Banoth Shankar Naik, District Collector VP Gautham, Municipal chairman Dr Palvai Rammohan Reddy, District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) Dr Harish Raj, Area Hospital Superintendent Banoth Venkatramulu, Dr Jagadeeshwar, and District COVID Nodal Officer Rajesh and others were present on the occasion.
