Hyderabad: A notification for Common Post Graduate Entrance Tests (CPGET) 2021 for admissions into postgraduate courses in the conventional universities in the State is likely to be issued in a week or 10 days. Osmania University (OU), which has been entrusted with the job of holding CPGET, is making preparations for issuing the notification. Candidates will be given a month time for applications. Following this, the entrance tests may be conducted in the second or third week of September.
“Preparations are underway for issuing a notification. Some universities have introduced new programmes which have to be incorporated into the entrance test besides universities have to submit changes, if any, in the subject syllabus for the test,” an official said.
Last year, as many as 85,270 candidates registered for the entrance tests, of which 72,467 appeared and 70,141 qualified. The CPGET 2020 was conducted in 51 subjects from December 2 to 14, 2020 and the MCom course received the highest number of applications i.e., 8,864.
As the number of applications was less compared to the number of available seats, the entrance test in MA Kannada, Marathi and Persian courses was not held last year. CPGET is conducted for admissions into MA, MSc, MCom, etc., courses, PG diploma courses and five-year integrated programmes ( MA, MSc, MBA) offered by Osmania, Kakatiya, Telangana, Mahatma Gandhi, Palamuru, Satavahana Universities and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad.
